Our server seems to be sharing the same sluggish symptoms I’ve had all week. I’m wondering if it’s contagious?
We’ve had a light case of sniffles and throat tickles this week and I attribute most of my wacky week to that. It seems that little health quirks can sure put you on tilt. Even if it’s not the reason, it makes me feel better to put it there. *wink* Whatever it is, it’s been weird. I feel like I’ve been spending more time dog paddling this week than being productive. It may be a natural balance of the universe coming off a few weeks of super productivity but whatever it is I’m not happy about it.
Coincidentally, my husband has been working on the server all week trying to tune it to the traffic influx and he’s not happy about it. And when the server and it’s admin aren’t happy - ‘aint nobody happy. LOL
A quick view in the hindsight mirror, tells me this truth is something you’d think I’d have mastered by now. Without even thinking about it I can come up with an immediate list of things on my “I’ll never…” page (bear in mind these are all relatively new and/or recent!):
If you don’t have one, get one. They are awesome and a worthwhile investment. Mine has paid for itself several times over. It’s several years old and not nearly as sleek looking as the new models but it still works great and I’ve put a lot of miles on it. Here’s what I love about mine: (more…)
Oh where, oh where can it be? My memory thinks it was only yesterday that I was running down the high school halls, but my body is telling me otherwise these days.
Last night my husband and I were discussing aches and pains as he brought up his wrists and finger joints hurting on occasion. I told him he knew what that meant and he simply replied that he doesn’t believe in carpal tunnel therefore he won’t get it. LOL I told him when I was experiencing early signs back in my salon days the doctor told me to just add as much variety to my hand usage with different motions as was possible. He asked me what he could differently with his hands. I smiled. (more…)

This tip includes both family and entertainment. One of the most important things we can do for our kids today is spend some real time with them, time when ALL of us can be together. Sometimes the moments are as simple as playing a round of UNO or dog pile on the floor. Other times it may be taking advantage of when a great event comes to your community. There are a million options. The question is finding what fits for the moment. Will you be doing the entertaining or will you be enjoying it with your kids? There’s no right or wrong answer, just different times for each.
Family & Entertainment Tip: Timing is critical (more…)
Mike over at Be A Good Dad shared a cute video of his little guy dancing today. I love watching kids in free form creativity. He inspired me to get my son’s video uploaded and shared (which I hate to admit has been on the “list” of things to do for almost two weeks now!)
A couple weeks ago we went to a big Constitution Week celebration with emphasis on Benjamin Franklin’s 300th birthday. The kids had a blast. Lee Greenwood was the entertainer for their program that night and during the pre-concert music my 3 year old started some entertaining of his own. I only had my digital camera with me so the lighting and picture quality aren’t stellar, but you get the gist of the little guy expressing his creativity through dance and a few singing phrases. I’m not completely sure but I think his dancing and singing inspired the music to follow. *wink*
We live in a world of technology. It is ever changing, growing, developing and expanding. You can embrace it or reject it; use it or fight it.
I choose to use it to help me simplify and balance my life. It hasn’t come without practice though. Some technology is just so cool it can take over your life and time throwing a real wrench in your delicate balance. But with a little practice and THE RIGHT tools it can be very helpful.
Here’s something that’s been bothering me for a long time: What has been and is happening with education in our great nation?
Several years ago, when I did some student teaching I was amazed at how much had changed since I was in the classroom (and that wasn’t that long ago at the time.) Now that I’m the parent of an elementary aged child and preschooler I’m even more involved and more opinionated with all the changes. It’s not all good or all bad, but it sure is different and there are big strikes on both sides for me. (more…)
Okay, you can finish that title as the mood/situation fits. As for me, I’m having a mommy Calgon moment. For anyone old enough, Calgon became famous for it’s marketing tag “Take me away!” many years ago. Fitting that their website bears this title. (more…)
