Busy, Busy

RaceI’ve come to the realization that I enjoy being busy. For a long time I just ran without recognizing how much I enjoy the pace. Now I’m a little more aware. A few days ago I shared one such a day of recognition.

Once and a while (okay pretty much consistently) I find myself getting down in the mouth about how much I’m not getting done that I wanted. Although I hear people say they wish for more hours in the day I see the divine wisdom in the 24 hour window. People like me wouldn’t know when to quit without some boundary! At any rate, when I find myself getting down or feeling like I’m on a treadmill instead of the track I find it helpful to review some of the recent accomplishments. The key is not to forget to note all the little things that I take for granted as common daily tasks. This morning I’m feeling pretty good about the past couple of days so thought I’d highlight a few things for future reference for myself. If you’re reading this maybe you’ll give the same concept a try and feel the boost for yourself.

The past four days have been really good ones for me. Yesterday morning I got an entirely new file page completed with several files converted and uploaded in a very short time. This is fantastic when I consider that in the same time a few days earlier I only got this much done. This gives me a much needed boost to keep jogging with this project of file conversion, sharing and backup.

A few days earlier I printed and mailed 120 business cards with welcome letters to six of our HopeToAdopt families for new account activations. I also moderated our boards, filtered the spam messages and worked on some new designs for our site upgrades.

The finances are updated and all all the bills are paid! YAY!! (Wish this had a refresh button feature!)

I made a few minutes to go scrimmage soccer with my daughter and her friend. They had a blast (mom came home and about passed out!). We also found time to read another chapter of Nancy Drew as well as keeping up with her homework. Double YAY!!

This morning I got Technorati Tags added to my articles. Have I mentioned how much I love being married to a brilliant programmer?!

I even found time to hit dinner with some girlfriends last night. Crazy how these types of things feel like just “one more thing to do” until you get yourself there and realize how much you needed the break and socialization!!

So now it’s time to keep up the momentum so the dog gets groomed, fish tank (thanks again brother) gets cleaned, son’s hair gets cut, my hair gets cut, the 3rd grade bulletin board gets done, soccer practice doesn’t get missed, the soccer team banner gets done, toe nails get an overdue pedicure, laundry gets caught up, steamer gets used to clean and sanitize the floors and bathroom, and most importantly that I can blog without guilt of all the things awaiting my attention!

Now, where did I put my superwoman cape?

  3. Thanks ladies! It really has been a good run and I hope to keep it up. By reminding myself of my sucesses I find fuel and motivation needed to keep moving. I’ll have to blog a postscript post to this one as I got WAY more than I thought I would on my silly last paragraph list marked off yesterday. I even got a few fun pictures!

    Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

    Hugs,
    Holly

  4. [...] We’ve had a light case of sniffles and throat tickles this week and I attribute most of my wacky week to that. It seems that little health quirks can sure put you on tilt. Even if it’s not the reason, it makes me feel better to put it there. *wink* Whatever it is, it’s been weird. I feel like I’ve been spending more time dog paddling this week than being productive. It may be a natural balance of the universe coming off a few weeks of super productivity but whatever it is I’m not happy about it. [...]
