When Will I Learn?
Well, you’d think I’d have learned after my daughter’s 7th birthday surprise. But no, I keep stepping into more activities and more volunteering. Just stamp “Easy Target!” on my forehead.
I knew after the first team meeting that I was heading down the same path of over involvement and volunteering. I walked away guilted into doing the team’s banner - I say guilted because there was several minutes of awkward silence and pleading looks from the assistant coach for someone to say yes. And because I wasn’t fast enough to say “I’ll be team mom but I won’t do the banner.” Actually, as this is my first experience, I had no idea what team mom or banner tasks meant, but the one who said it sounded smart. My goal was sit in silence but that darn soft heartstring piped up when the chips were down. *scuffing toe across the ground*
I’m not alone in some soccer misery though. Today Blonde Mom cracked me up with her share of soccer practice. I related a little too well to her comments. Misery loves company after all. I’m posting this in hopes that someone out there can relate to always taking on one more thing, even though you promised yourself you’d stop that!
Back to the banner. . . so now I have to finish a 4×6′ banner for my daughter’s team, the Bumble Bees.
Here’s the plan:

and Here’s how it looks today mapped out on my floor:

Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have another picture to add of the finished project. And maybe a trip to the nearest imaging service to have my brain scanned or at least to the store for some duct tape.

Hehehe… I love it when I get suckered into something at my kid’s school. Last year that happened ALOT… this year time is more limited.

LOL ~ WOW that looks GREAT!!
I have to say that we are a lot alike. When in a room filled with people and if a speaker ask for a volunteer and the room is quiet for over 3 seconds.. something odd happens to my arm an it just FLIES up in the Air!! Hee heee!!
Great job
Aurelia (TaeKwonDo mom, PTA Vice President, PTA Secretary & classroom helper)…LOL

That is awesome! It’s hard to say no, especially when it comes to our kids activities. Post the final product when you get a chance. It looks great! And thanks for visiting my blog.

[...] A few weeks ago I shared my inability to avoid volunteering when a few moments of silence follow a request. It was wonderful to read that Red has also been sucked in and that Aurelia is the same way - misery loves company LOL! Kailani gave me a boost of confidence and Jamie asked me to post the final project when I got a chance. So today I’m sharing the finished soccer banner: [...]
