Okay, now before you go wondering why I’m already posting something about Christmas when Halloween isn’t even here yet. . . . hold on to your britches, it’s tied into the husband’s week.

Two years ago I wanted to do something really special for my other half. We’d survived a couple of the toughest years in our marriage. Some of that saga wasn’t over yet but by in large we had pulled through a very dark time and I wanted to let him know how grateful I was for him and our many years together. But money was still extremely tight, so I decided I’d do the 12 Days of Christmas for my husband.

It was the best Christmas gift I’ve ever given. All his co-workers were jealous of his daily attention and couldn’t wait to see what was coming next. I felt like a giddy little elf sneaking the daily doses of love and items into his life. I had so much fun compiling the ideas and the research for some of them was an incredible shot in the arm of the magic that brought us together. It was hard to comprehend that I was the giver because I was getting so much out of it.

If you’ve never done this before, I HIGHLY recommend doing it for your spouse. Gifts from the heart always mean more and those memories need dusted off once and a while! My gift for the 12th day kept those memories fresh all year. I gave him a personalized calendar I created for the next year. It included snippets of our letter courtship and journaling, special events that happened in that same month years before and pictures. Every day I’d look at the copy I printed for myself and smile reading and reliving so many wonderful memories.
