It was about this time two years ago when we purchased our last car. The holiday season was approaching and we had a year of long distance travels coming up. We knew we needed something that worked better for our family. My back couldn’t continue taking the constant reaching and stretching to restart the movie on the laptop every time it got bumped, and my nerves sure couldn’t take many more long road trips with our two kids getting more verbal and active with each other. As you can see from these pictures, the decision made everyone happy travelers! (more…)

I can’t help but ponder on my 4 year old’s polite manners. I’d like to think he’s getting it from me, but sometimes I can’t help but think that some of these traits are hard-wired in them before they ever reach us. Not that we don’t play critical roles in developing and nurturing such gifts and qualities, but I just can’t make myself feel good about taking all the credit on this one. Especially knowing that I think he’s more polite and aware of giving thanks than I am! LOL (more…)
Staying on top of it all: This is a game I play with myself. I know better, but I still catch myself thinking this way.
So here’s today’s tip: Such control is an illusion.
There is no such thing as staying on top of it all. First of all, the “all” changes constantly, especially during the holidays. Nothing will ever be done forever. Sure, we may get a few projects finished and we may even have moments when we feel a breath of relief over how quiet the moment is with multiple things caught up…but they are just that, moments. Because the ball is always turning, and we’re not super heroes (darn!), that can stay in one place on the moving sphere all the time, we will find ourselves in various positions of the moving beast. Some days I’m on top, other days I’m being chased in front, still others I find myself being flattened underneath and a few choice days I’m on the backside rolling with the momentum in harmony. Of course, then I realize I’m just getting ready to go through a few more positions again! LOL The beauty of this realization is that balance can be achieved simply by recognizing it. (more…)
This morning I was catching up on blog reading from the weekend. This is a good way to start the week, but as I don’t come online much, if at all, during the weekends, it also means I miss out on some blogosphere stuff that happens then. This morning was full of information! One of the posts and responses this morning caused me to reflect on my…for lack of a better description…Internet growth. And I realized that both my experience and my reliance on my brilliant programming husband are things I’ve taken for granted. (more…)
Wednesday, my son had a special Thanksgiving feast and party in his preschool class. This was one of my favorite songs they performed for us. It’s called the Popcorn song. My exuberant son is the blonde on the right who is bouncing most of the song long!

This morning I woke up to some fun comments on my blog - - - that, by the way, is a fantastic way to start your day. *wink* One was from my good friend Kelly telling me I had been tagged.
Apparently, the game goes like this. It’s all about 5’s. You write 5 things about yourself others may not know and then you pick 5 others to do the same. So here’s my 5 things:
1) I have two different colored eyes (you can see it best in the picture of this post)
2) My favorite drink is Mountain Dew
3) I’ve taught classes for educators through Albertson’s “Teaching With Technology” program
4) I received a full tuition scholarship to a 2-year college for good grades
5) I was voted best actress by my HS drama club - MAPs (Madison Avenue Players)

I’m hoping to solidify my list of groceries this morning for Thursday’s dinner. It’s funny, I love the dinner but we don’t to anything really different than any other nice meal. I add a few more dishes like one more veggie and stuffing but that’s the only real difference, well and maybe that we actually KNOW we’ll have dessert…LOL I remember the big affairs the dinner was growing up - - tables upon tables of food and choices. I’d always get more than I could eat and then get my dad mad at me for not being able to clear my plate. (more…)
