My wife and I feel the same way about minivans. We think they are on the ugly side, but with 3 young kids, we need one. We almost bought one in the Fall, but decided to wait until the end of the year to get a better deal. Can't now because we just got a big hospital bill for our child's 5 day stay. Costs more than a 5-star hotel and the food sucks.

Buy a Minivan, Save Your Sanity (can't wait to see what happens tonight)

So sorry to hear about the hospital bill - those really bite don't they?! We'll have lots to talk about tomorrow - hope tonight I get more answers.....

We got a double stroller for the twins' baby shower. I assembled it and tried to put it in the trunk of our cars. We had to take the tray off to get it to fit...and then nothing else could fit in the trunk. We went out and bought the Mazda MPV that has been toting the kids around for nearly 4 years.

My parents got into the minivan craze back in the Astrovan days, so I don't have any revulsions left around them. I still prefer my little Corolla though. I like being low to the ground.

Ug - I still remember the days of carting around half the house just to make one outing with the kiddos. The dreaded stroller - can't live with it, can't live without it...LOL

Oh no, say it isn't so! A mini-van?

Just kidding! I have an SUV but I've been considering getting a mini-van, too. The newer ones actually look a little more stylish! I love the idea of having all that room! My only concern is parking. Do you find it difficult?

Not with my van, but then I can do a 360 turn in a street with it too. That may be a Toyota feature for driving ease, I'm not sure because the rental van was pretty bulky in feeling to me and didn't drive as smooth. I don't remember I'm in a van until I'm walking back to it. LOL

I went from a Jeep Cherokee to a Nissan Altima and it was hard. We're looking at buying another SUV b/c my husbands car is a 2000 model and will be hard to get rid of soon. I can't even believe my husband is looking at SUV (he's calls them "Stupid Useless Vehicles") but I'm excited to have a "bigger" car again, even if he is the main driver.

I agree with you... Minivans are not pretty at all. The only one I would remotely consider is the Nissan Quest.

I can't tell you how many times I stood outside my door waiting for it to open before I'd realize that my door was one of the few that doesn't have an automatic open button! LOL Times and seasons, I wish I'd broken down a few years earlier as I truly can't believe how much easier it is to load and unload kids.

The little features are so nice, aren't they? It's hard to consider giving up those things that really make our lives easier.

I know when I've upgraded something, so often I think, "Why did I go SO LONG without it???"

It's so true! Those little things often make a very big difference!

My husband will still not forgive me for his having to give up his Ford Probe when our daughter was born! However, we never did sucumb to the mini-van....having only one child allowed us to continue the tradition of owning Toyota Camry's ever since my KIA was totalled three years ago. Camry's are all we will drive now ;)

And don't you just love the Camry? We're such Toyota folks, which is why I knew the only way I'd go is with the Sienna, which drives just as nice as our Camrys have.

You're funny! Which maker? If you don't mind my asking

My family had one of the first mini-vans in Madison County over twenty years ago. I actually enjoyed driving it--even as a teenager, although it was kinda hard to cruise Main in it. ;-)

Having three, then four kids, the Caravan has been a life saver even just driving up the hill to church or to Wal*Mart. We have captain's chairs as well and that's been heavenly. Right before my divorce we had one without and although the car seat was awesome, the fighting wasn't.

It'll be nine years old in April so we're at the point where dh thinks that it's time to downsize and I don't want to give mine up! The difference between it and our Civic is phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, I adore my Civic (mostly because of the manual transmission, CD, and moon roof) but the Caravan lifts you so much higher and you see so much more than you do in the Civic...

I'm thinkin' Pilot next time. Yah, right. When I win the lottery. Oh wait. I don't PLAY the lottery! *rolling eyes*

We got a 2005 Toyota Sienna and it has been SO nice. The height of the minivan is a real plus, especially for traveling kiddos!
