Yesterday was one of the better Mondays I’ve had in a while. I never get as much done as I want, but I did get to a lot of things yesterday. I even took those baby steps to the exercise equipment! I was completely ready for cake decorating class last night an hour and a half before it was time to go, and whipped up a really good dinner in short order (new idea=happy accident…LOVE those!) Best of all, I got to enjoy 24 with my hubby last night after the kids were in bed. This is good because now I don’t have to worry about catching up on it before my friend, Tiggerprr posts on it. However, I do still have to catch up this morning on last night’s Heroes which hubby watched while I was at class before my buddy Daddy Forever posts on it but that’s just one fun thing to get to today thanks to DVR, so again it’s all good.

I’m so grateful for Google’s calendar. Over the holidays, I entered an event about a week before every birthday to get something in the mail. That way I get an alert e-mail as well as have it on my daily agenda e-mail when I need to get it done and not just a day before the big day. It’s like a to do list on steroids. *laugh* So today my e-mail reminded me that I needed to get my niece her 1st year birthday package off.
I found a cute little set of stuffed animal frogs that were kissing. What a perfect way to send her my love right? So I got a card and dropped them into a padded envelope. Well, upon stuffing the contents into the bag I realized the toys had a magnet feature that made a kissing sound and said “Kiss Me” when their mouths touched together. I tried to get them stuck before putting them in the package but alas, every bump and turn brought the sound of kissing and the command to “Kiss Me”. I was laughing so hard by the time I got to the post office that I’m sure people thought I was on something. But it was contageous because pretty soon the entire grumpy mood of the store was lifted with smiles and giggles, and that’s a real feat for a government office!
Those little guys are going to have one fun journey to Idaho! I wish I could be a fly on the wall for every handler that gets kissed. *wink*

Funnies Positive Impact
Remember the book reference in the “What About Bob?” movie? This title jumped out at me this morning as I was thinking on so many things that require my attention, things that I want to give my attention to, and projects that are still waiting to get the attention required to finish them.
Yesterday, I took about 15-20 minutes to work on one of those projects waiting for completion. I jumped back into it with enthusiasm, ready to really tackle the content and get a lot done. After I got a few things done I lost all drive for it. But I recognized the value of getting just a little bit done. That by itself is motivation enough to want to repeat the same process again…and sooner rather than later.
Just as you stop to periodically do that laundry or clean out that sink, those projects and “want to” items need the same periodic attention. It doesn’t have to be a monumental undertaking…just one little baby step is a step toward the finish line and that feels great!
Thanks to modern technology and the DVR I can even break down the time spent giving attention to those wonderful weekly shows I’ve been waiting for. I don’t even have to sacrifice one over the other! So bring it on Monday night, I’m ready - *wink.*
Now, baby steps upstairs, baby steps to the exercise equipment……….

Homemaker Organizing Inspiration Housework Balance
Time continues to slip away from me, but as I was out browsing and catching up on a few blogs and e-mails this morning I couldn’t dismiss this comment:
“But I do wish I knew more about housekeeping aids that don’t harm the environment or increase cancer risk or make my skin itch.”
This was a comment shared over at Keeping the Castle. And the ideas shared there are worth the visit!
The reason this caught my attention is that since I started using my little steamer I don’t buy any cleaners anymore. I have a clean, sanitized result with natural steam. It’s not just a money saver, it’s an environment saver too!

Life gets messy…ask for help.
My son reminded me of this lesson yesterday. Sometimes things get messy and you need to ask for help. Besides, no one enjoys skid marks in their underpants!

Parenting Sharing Motherhood
As I was just thinking about this topic yesterday, what better timing than to share/join another way to mingle with bloggers! 5 minutes for mom is hosting The Ultimate Blog Party in March. I think it sounds like fun so help me get the word out for a big bash!

I gave in to my lazy bone last night against my better judgement. I figured it had been several years since I’d done a generic casserole for dinner and seeings how I couldn’t even remember the last time, thought it had been long enough. I was wrong.
We are not casserole people at my house. Our taste buds have been refined and spoiled by fresh mex, delicious entrees and tasty salads/side dishes. I made a basic Tater Tot casserole with a hamburger base. I’d hoped that being told last week by one of the 16 year olds in my class that it was their favorite food that maybe my kids would go for it. I added more seasonings, veggies and layers of cheese in hopes that it would compensate for the basic blah base but to no avail. My daughter picked out all the Tater Tots and left the rest in her bowl, my son took one bite of the hamburger and said “No thanks mom, I no like it” and when I told my husband that I remembered now why I don’t make or like casseroles he remained perfectly balanced in his response that it was just food to fill your stomach and that is its purpose anyway. I believe that’s the politically correct way of agreeing with your wife. A few hours later while watching American Idol I commented how yucky that dinner was and my daughter said, “Yeah, it was pretty bad mom.” Case closed. No more casseroles at my house.
Want to get that completed puzzle flipped over so you can glue or secure it for framing? Try this!

Yet another great use for Glad Press’N Seal wrap.

Sharing Inspiration
I’ve had a couple of conversations this week on the topic of AD/HD and it’s resurfaced some memories and feelings for me. It’s also shown me the power and support that comes when we are willing to share our experiences with others. So I wanted to take a moment to share some of my thoughts and experiences with medication related to the condition because it’s definitely a hot topic out there. To get there, I have to share some history or what I have to share won’t mean much.
