What I do for a break? I take a nap, too?

"Daddy's taking a break," I heard my 4-year old once tell my wife. "That's why he is sleeping and he's sleeping for a long, long time."

Hmp.

That's why I look forward to the end of the day... the kids are tucked in and I can watch some TV, surf the web, or read. The end of the day is good for a few hours rest, then the kids take turn waking up every couple of hours.

Amen to the few hours and then them waking again...LOL

I don't really get a break... but both kids go to bed at 8pm (how did I manage to get an almost 4 month old, and 2 year old in bed roughly at the same time.... don't ask me! it's worked twice so I must be doing something right!) so my husband and I just take time to ourselves... sit on the deck, watch a movie or a TV show and just talk as much as we need to or until one of us (usually him) falls asleep. It's not much but perhaps when the children are older we'll find time to do things separately... or I should say, find the desire to do things separately. We refer to ourselves as a team. So we don't go somewhere alone, unless it's together w/o the kids. But we haven't even been married for two years yet so things will probably change.

Amazing how quickly you find yourself living for bed time isn't it? ;)

I take a nap, ;)

I wish I could sneak them in anymore. Times and seasons though and I know my time for naps is not too far distant...:)

Other than occasionally running errands by myself, breaks are taken 'in house'. Usually that means letting the kids break most of the usual rules. We skip baths, let the kids play all the electronics that are usually off limits, put a movie on, use paper plates, get take out, let the sink fill with dirty dishes, and stay in jammies all day. Then while the kids are all happily occupied, I get some coffee and sit in my bed with my laptop and watch Discovery Channel all day. So how often do I need a break? Well, every Saturday, of course! :)

Oh I'm so glad to hear someone else who takes much needed breaks this way! :)

Have a fantastic getaway! We all needs breaks and in parenting we just don't get one. I'm going on a little girls' getaway with my best friend late this summer. I have NEVER done that. Let's just say that I need it! ;) (the patience wears thinner..that is how I can tell I need some "me" time)

Yes, mine is tissue paper thin and it's not good...LOL Where are you and your friend going?

You're a sweetie. I appreciate your perspective on this. I guess we all need a fresh start sometimes, don't we! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic getaway with your mom and sisters. Enjoy!

Thank you. Sweeties are drawn to each other you know. ;)
