We lost power for six days in 2005 due to an ice storm. I didn't think we would survive it...but we did. It was a real learning experience and made me realize how truly dependent we are on electricity for everything.

I can't even imagine 6 days in today's world!!!

I used to live all my summers without power, and when I think of it, not all bad! You kids thought that I had come across the plains with pioneers! But, I miss the sound of the spring water gurgling and the cickets at night. The sound of the cyotoe's howl. Play was whatever our imaginations could make up and how I loved the old radio hooked up to the battery and we would listen to our favorite programs. I could see the characters in my mind and their surroundings. The old lantern flickering in the night shadows. Yes, even our bath in the old tin tub. Now don't get me wrong, I love my electicty as well as the next one, and yes living without it does present it's own set of problems, but it can be done and I'm grateful to know that I could live without it, and have wonderful memories of a time long since gone, And, as you know, I'm not that old!!

Ironically, Blake and I were just discussing your childhood and summers! I think it's awesome that you all could and would do that every summer, especially after a winter with those luxuries in the valley.

Not long at all. I don't even have a laptop so I can't go somewhere else to work.

Me neither!

Not too long, I suspect...

Especially if I knew that it wasn't returning.

Heat or air conditioning, laundry, refrigeration (we went a week without out in November--you ought to try that some time, or not!), hot water, and of course the internet...

I'd be in trouble after 24 hours. *gulp*

Even 24 hours would be more than trouble for me I suspect! :)
