I used to think the perfect mom would have a perfect system that would work perfectly forever with regards to kids, charts, etc. Then I became a mom.

The reality is that I learned the hard way that there are a lot of great things that will work for a little while and then expire. It may be because mom was too lazy to keep it going, or sometimes it could be that the child just grew out of it. I came to realize that it’s all good and you need to roll with the punches. The bottom line is motivation is critical. For me, negative begets negative and positive begets positive. So when I try to deal with behavior issues using negative motivation/reinforcement I always end up in a mess. Over the years I’ve come up with a few things that have really helped get us through some tough stages.

<a href="http://www.hollyscorner.com/blog/wp-content/files/Privilege Chart.pdf"target="blank"> Privilege Chart

An article I wrote today shares other things that are working for me this summer: <a href=http://www.hollyscorner.com/blog/2007/06/22/ideas-that-are-working/"target="blank">Things That Are Working
